"CodeBlue implemented centralised desktop management for our forty branches. It cost 90% less than Altiris, and I was up and running in two days"
Monty Singh, IT Manager, West Auckland Trusts Services

CodeBlue opens offices in
Wellington and Christchurch

CodeBlue has opened branches in Wellington and Christchurch, which along with existing offices in Auckland and Hamilton allow CodeBlue to take its winning ‘fixed price’ IT services formula nation-wide.

CodeBlue has grown steadily since its inception by offering proactive IT management for a fixed price, a concept that has proved popular with New Zealand organisations. Customers now include Auckland Chamber of Commerce, importers, legal firms, accountants and finance and transport companies.

CEO Ken Davis says while CodeBlue’s customers are a diverse bunch, they share one thing in common: the desire to know exactly how much to budget each month for a stable and reliable computing platform.

“Proactive IT management for a fixed price has proved to be a winning formula for us in the local market - it’s the most common reason customers tell us they are signing up with CodeBlue,” he says.

He says CodeBlue has signed up a lot of customers who don’t want to be the smallest customer of a big provider, but who need much more than a ‘one man band’ IT service provider can deliver.

“There’s a big gap between the large and small service providers. Companies who have between ten and 150 people are falling through that gap. We are made for those companies, we love them and we can service them like no one else,” Ken Davis says.

“We’re small and personal enough to get things done with a single phone call, but big enough to deliver enterprise-level service management and support systems such as remote network monitoring. The calibre of the staff in the new Wellington and Christchurch offices is extremely high – they are very good people who see an opportunity to build the first new national IT services brand New Zealand has had in many many years.”

Christchurch CodeBlue Branch Manager Shelley Inwood spent ten years at Computerland and Gen-i as a technical consultant and business solution specialist before leaving to start her own IT service business. She says she founded her business to look after five to 150 seat companies after seeing them face the choice between service providers who were either too big or too small for them.

“These companies don’t enjoy calling an 0800 number to find that no one knows them,” she says.

“They also suffer from sales people who promise big then rely on engineers to deliver. They’re between a rock and a hard place because they need technical helpdesks and managed services, which is more than a ‘one man band’ service company can do. By joining CodeBlue I give our customers the option to reap the benefits of CodeBlue’s substantial investment in enterprise-level service management and support systems.”

She says the main difference between managed services from big players and those from CodeBlue are price and personal delivery.

“CodeBlue customers always deal with someone who knows them, and our pricing is much, much keener than the very big providers,” she says.

“Five years ago a company like CodeBlue was not technically possible. Technology just didn’t allow ‘big company’ TCO tools to be offered to anything but big companies. That’s changed, and yet big companies still spend 40% less per seat on IT than small companies. CodeBlue is out to change that. The company is growing at 10% per month, and already has over 200 customers.”

Wellington CodeBlue Branch Director Shane Wood says his company is joining CodeBlue partly to improve efficiency around the provision of technical services such as network monitoring and support.

“Becoming part of CodeBlue gives us access to more automated monitoring systems, so we can free up staff for hands-on building and deploying. Some of the clients we support have more than 500 users, with offices in Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, Hamilton and other centres. As CodeBlue we can provide direct support to those places, with CodeBlue’s tracking systems enabling us to stay directly responsible to the customer.”
